About Me

Hi there! I was born and raised in Texas. I am a life-long learner and have many interests. I’ve worn many hats over the years. I am a certified governess, professional organizer, public speaker and have studied the lettering arts. I earned my bachelor of arts degree in Communications from Mid-America Nazarene University and am now earning my master’s degree in Information and Learning Technology at the University of Colorado, Denver. I currently use my talents as a trainer, presenter, and entrepreneur.

When I’m not training or studying, I’m either running around town with my sister, Amy or I am working on publishing my first book, which was co-authored by my sister. Our business meetings take place in coffee shops, soda fountains and tea rooms all over Kansas City. When the book is published, I will post it on this site. So stay tuned!

Philosophy

I believe in designing a learning experience that builds on what you already know. I believe in making the learning fun, but most of all, it’s got to be sticky. For something to stick, you need two things. You need something sticky and you need something to stick it to. I once spent over two years trying to figure out how to make a training course (on a 2,000-page statistical document) sticky. The client just couldn’t seem to communicate to their technical audience in a way that would make it stick. They had no context, no frame of reference. After making some major changes to the training materials, presentations and a providing coaching for the presenters, it is now one of the most sought-after courses they offer. In the end, it all comes down to something my father has said all my life and still says to this day, “If it won’t stick, put more Duct Tape on it.” I’m just glad they now make it in pink.
